Depending on the starting material, our metal presses in the RUF 18.5-55 series achieve a maximum throughput of up to 2,800 kg/hour and are thus ideally suited to briquetting larger quantities of metal chips. Briquetting system in Tukums region

In December 2023, our specialists implemented a project to install a briquetting system at a wood processing plant in the Tukums district.
The system consists of the following parts: briquetting system RUF 200, feeding conveyor with feeding length 4700 mm, hopper 600 x 1000, extended oil cooler, control cabinet with direct starting system for three engines. Features of the facility: the old press was replaced, an additional waste supply was connected through a conveyor, the cooling system of the press was strengthened, and a productivity of up to 240 briquettes per hour was ensured.
Our specialists successfully carried out high-quality installation and commissioning of all the above equipment, as well as personnel training.

In July 2023, our specialists implemented a project to install an automatic packaging line at a woodworking company in Tallinn, Estonia.
The line carries out automatic selection of briquettes from 3 RUF briquetting presses, their transportation to the grouper, formation of a group of 12 rectangular briquettes, wrapping the prepared group in shrink film, passing the package through a thermal tunnel and a cooling station. The line is equipped with emergency exit, leaflet feeder, briquette flow control and safety sensors. As a result, the line capacity has increased to 240 packs per hour.
Our specialists have successfully carried out high-quality installation and commissioning of all the above equipment.

In December 2022, our specialists successfully installed a briquetting line for a Latvian woodworking company in the Ropaži region. The line consists of RUF briquetting systems, transport and control systems. The project included the following stages of installation work: dismantling of old equipment, installation of a scraper conveyor and feeder screws, setting up 5 presses for new positions, installation of flexible connections between nodes, laying cable routes, power supply, piping of electronics, installation of raw materials removal, installation of chutes and packing table, as well as the installation of the operator's platform.

In September 2022, our specialists successfully installed 2 new RUF Lignum R6 briquetting presses for a Latvian woodworking company in the Jelgava region. The company has already been involved in recycling and briquette production, and now decided to replace the previous generation of RUF presses with new ones in order to increase productivity and reduce energy costs. Improvements to the Lignum R6 hydraulic motors have increased equipment efficiency by 25%.

The total production capacity is about 1500 kg/h. They can produce about 36 tons of briquettes per day. Raw materials - alder and oak shavings.

In July 2022, a chain conveyor was installed for a Latvian company, consisting of two conveyors with separate drives. Drive: electric motor - reducer mounted directly on the conveyor frame. A 90-degree chain conveyor with a straight section (length 9 meters) was attached to an existing production line. Estimated load of the conveyor - up to 1000 kg of simultaneous presence of the product on the line.

In February 2022, our specialists successfully launched 2 new RUF Lignum R6 briquetting presses for a Latvian woodworking company in Kuldiga.The latest technology of RUF briquetting presses makes it possible to produce high-quality briquettes of the same size and weight from different raw material fractions.Improvements to the Lignum R6 hydraulic motors have increased equipment efficiency by 25%. This is one of the biggest advantages of the R-series - lower power consumption per unit of power. The raw material is pine shavings.

In February 2021, our team developed and installed a full-cycle briquetting line. The company has a lot of sawdust and different wood waste in different fractions. In order to achieve an even mass of timber for briquetting by packing briquettes on pallets, only a vibrating table, vibrating conveyors, chipper, several hoppers, a hammer mill, 2 RUF briquetting presses and a Strojplast packing machine are installed. Briquetting line capacity 1.4t / hour.

The company replaced the previous-generation RUF press with the new one to increase productivity but reduce electricity costs. The further improvement of the hydraulic system of the Lignum R has led to an efficiency increase of around 25%. This is one of the biggest benefits - less power consumption per capacity.

This time we visited neighboring Lithuania, where in July 2019 we installed a RUF Lignum R6 briquetting system and an Airless packaging machine from Strojplast. In total, these capacities produce approximately 950-970 kg / h of briquettes, which means one pallet of briquettes per hour and about 23 tons per day.

In April 2018 installed a packaging line for briquettes manufactured in Lithuania with a capacity of 1.8 t/h. The company manufactures briquettes with four briquetting machines with briquettes produced in excess of 1,8 ton per hour. Most packaging machines are expensive and do not meet the needs of woodworking companies, because packaging of briquettes is a very complicated process. Thanks to the SIA RMP team and its long experience in the production and processing of briquettes in general, SIA RMP engineers developed a solution suitable for this particular customer.

What are the advantages of briquetting metal chips?

Reducing the volume of chips during briquetting will reduce the cost of production space, storage, and transportation by several times. The coolant contained in the chips is squeezed out and collected in the press pan, after additional filtration it can be returned to production. Briquettes are no longer waste, they are a valuable secondary raw material for foundry production, which can replace part of the lump metal in the charge and increase the yield of metal during remelting.

What are the advantages of briquetting grinding slurry?

- extract up to 90% of expensive grinding oil from the sludge and return it to production, saving on the purchase of new oil,

- significantly reduce the volume of grinding sludge,

- reduce the cost of sludge disposal, because sludge after briquetting is almost dry,

- increase the level of environmental safety of the enterprise. Sludge in briquetted form, without oil content, can be transferred from a hazardous waste category to a less hazardous one.

What other metal waste, besides metal shavings and grinding sludge, can the RUF press briquet?

For example, aluminum foil, aluminum cans, aluminum caps from medicine containers, spent cartridges, titanium sponge, shredded copper wire. Send us information about your waste and we will definitely answer you on the possibility of briquetting, in case of doubt, we will offer to conduct a test briquetting.

What are the requirements for producing briquettes?

In general, almost all materials can be made into briquettes. However, the chip particles should not be bigger than 50mm. The chips should not contain any impurities. For Wood & Biomass the moisture content should be less than 12 % (max 15 %).

Is it possible to briquet magnesium shavings, because it is prone to spontaneous combustion?

Yes, it is possible and even necessary. Briquetting of magnesium shavings is an effective way to eliminate the risk of spontaneous combustion, due to the high density of the briquettes there is no oxygen access to the shavings.

How do I find the right briquetting machine?

We have many years of experience in briquetting which means that our experts are well-qualified to provide you with professional advice in choosing the right briquette press. We work with you to identify your individual requirements on the basis of the material in question and the production conditions. Is there an “all-rounder” press for all possible materials?

We always try to find the best possible briquetting solution. Our range has therefore been specifically developed for certain materials, production conditions or marketing purposes of the briquettes. Do we need to crush/shred the chips before briquetting?

In the case of long, woolly chips, it may be necessary to crush the starting material beforehand. In this case, we can offer complete solutions together with the relevant suppliers. With our free pressing test, we can establish whether your starting material can be briquetted or whether it needs to be crushed beforehand.

Why carry out test briquetting?

By testing, our specialists determine the ability of chips to briquetting, which press model is best suited for a particular material, whether there is a need for options. In the process of testing, parameters such as the density of the briquette, the strength of the briquette (friability test), the amount of coolant squeezed out are determined.

How is a test pressing done? Is it done free of charge?

Test pressing is done free of charge and without any obligation on your part, and is carried out in Technical Centre using your own material. At your request, you can be present at the test pressing. The results are important for the choice of the briquetting machine – for example, briquette thickness, residual moisture, durability to withstand handling, the amount of cooling lubricants recovered, etc.
