FAQ

Briquetting

Why choose briquetting?

Briquetting provides a sustainable and efficient way to handle production residues. By reducing the volume of waste, it can lower the costs and space required for handling, storage and transportation. Briquetting can also create additional revenue from the briquettes. For metal chips, briquetting can additionally enable the recovery of valuable cooling lubricants and potentially improve the yield during melting.

How do I get my chips into the briquetting machine?

RMP can supply peripheral equipment such as conveyors, silos and chip hoppers. These systems optimise the flow of material into the press and can be combined to create an automated briquetting process. The material-handling system is configured according to the customer's individual requirements.

How much space/area is needed for the system?

RUF presses have a compact design and generally require relatively little space. The required area depends on the material, the quantity to be processed and the required throughput of the briquetting system.

What level of maintenance costs can I expect?

Maintenance costs are generally low because RUF presses are robust and designed for low wear. Actual costs depend on the material being processed. Wear parts can be replaced using spare parts supplied from RMP. RMP also provides service support and can offer complete overhauls and individually tailored maintenance contracts.

What level of running costs (electricity, etc.) should I expect?

RUF states that its hydraulic technology provides high energy efficiency and relatively low electricity consumption in relation to briquetting performance.

What is the smallest amount of chips that makes briquetting worthwhile?

Briquetting can be economically viable even for relatively small quantities of material. In such cases, a press with a lower throughput can be considered. The economic suitability depends on the specific material and quantity, so RMP recommends an individual assessment.

What are the price categories for the machines?

The price of a briquetting press depends on several factors, including the material, required throughput and desired briquette density. RMP therefore recommends an individual assessment and can prepare a non-binding quotation.

Do you have any used machines available?

RMP occasionally has used machines available. These machines are refurbished and repaired before being offered for sale. Availability depends on current stock.

Do you have any machines that we can view for reference purposes?

RMP can check whether there are operating machines in the customer's region that could be visited as references.
