Sustainability

THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON THE DECISIONS WE MAKE TODAY

Dear colleagues, RMP clients, and partners!

Sustainability

Corporate sustainability is not a passive activity. It involves active engagement and conducting business in a manner that ensures responsible management of financial resources, the environment, and the social sphere. This approach reduces risks, uncovers new opportunities, and creates long-term value for all stakeholders.

Sustainability issues and priority areas may evolve over time, but our commitment to the principles of sustainability remains steadfast. For RMP, responsible business practices have always been an integral part of our corporate culture and hold a solid place within our system of values.

To enhance transparency for stakeholders, this section highlights specific examples of how we integrate sustainability principles into our business operations.

RELEVANCE & OBJECTIVE

Sustainability

In a rapidly evolving landscape of environmental consciousness and regulatory shifts, the relevance of sustainability cannot be overstated. As the Latvian government aligns with European regulations and Sustainable Development Goals, our commitment to sustainability is not merely a choice but an imperative. With over 30 years of experience in supplying equipment and technologies for biofuel production and industrial waste processing, RMP recognises the urgent need to embrace sustainable practices.

The European Union's climate policies and obligations drive our region towards a greener future. Despite commendable strides in renewable energy, Latvian per capita emissions continue to rise, emphasising the necessity for concerted efforts towards sustainability, as highlighted by reviews from the EU Environmental Implementation Review and the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) Environmental Performance Review .

The Latvian National Development Plan (2021-2027) articulates strategic objectives aimed at fostering equal opportunity, productivity, income, social trust, and regional development. Our company aligns with priorities focusing on business competitiveness, material well-being, and a quality living environment. Embracing the EU Green Deal's principles, we aspire to achieve climate sustainability, resource efficiency, and balanced regional development.

The introduction of European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) signifies a pivotal shift towards a sustainable economy. While non-listed SMEs are not yet obligated to report sustainability, voluntary reporting serves as a proactive step towards future compliance. Moreover, it serves as a testament to our commitment to improving sustainability practices and meeting the expectations of investors, partners, stakeholders, and clients.
