Briquetting System Installation in Jelgava

Task

A significant amount of aluminium production residues is generated during the manufacturing process, most of which consists of aluminium chips.

The material is characterised by a heterogeneous composition: in addition to aluminium chips, it contains aluminium residues of various fractions. Therefore, it was necessary to select equipment capable of operating efficiently and reliably with such a material composition.

The main objective of the project was to reduce the volume of production residues and obtain a more compact and convenient material form for further storage, transportation and recycling.

Solution

To meet these requirements, a RUF RB4/2400/60x60 hydraulic briquetting system was installed.

The press is designed for briquetting metal chips and other production residues. In this project, the equipment is used to briquette aluminium chips containing aluminium residues of various sizes and lengths.

Through the briquetting process, loose and heterogeneous material is transformed into compact briquettes of a defined shape, making them easier to handle.

Equipment Features

The RUF RB4/2400/60x60 briquetting system provides a throughput of up to 94 kg/h and produces high-density briquettes.

The high pressing pressure of up to 2304 kg/cm² enables efficient briquetting of aluminium chips and heterogeneous aluminium production residues, producing dense and stable briquettes. An additional benefit is the recovery of valuable metalworking fluids, which are extracted from wet metal chips and can be reused.

RMP specialists provided material testing at the RUF production facility to verify its suitability for briquetting, as well as equipment supply, installation, commissioning and personnel training as a turnkey solution.
