Installation of a Packaging Line with a Palletizing and Stacking System in Rezekne Municipality

Challenge

The company already operated a briquetting plant equipped with two RUF briquetting presses and a Strojplast Airless packaging unit. The objective of the project was to replace the existing packaging equipment with a highly automated solution for briquette packaging and palletizing.

A key challenge was the integration of the new line into the existing production facility. The equipment had to be installed in three interconnected production rooms with a complex layout and different floor levels. To create a unified and functional production line, the rooms had to be adapted and functionally integrated, taking into account equipment positioning, material flows and access for equipment maintenance.

Due to the differences in floor levels, a special platform had to be designed and installed to ensure proper equipment positioning, safe movement and convenient access for line maintenance.

Solution

As part of the project, a custom-designed floor platform with safety railings and stairs was developed, and an automated Strojplast packaging and palletizing line was installed, consisting of the following components:

• BSW-721-ADP-2 briquette conveying, grouping and packaging unit.
• Label feeding system.
• 90° chain conveyor.
• Emergency briquette discharge system.
• Briquette height control system.
• Briquette length control system.
• Conveyor for rejected briquettes.
• BIG-BAG station.
• Four-axis SMARTPAL-3000 robot with integrated scales, a system for weighing briquette packages and a system for diverting packages with non-conforming weight.
• Package turning system with conveyor.

System specifications

• Automatic reception of briquettes, position control and sawdust removal.
• Uniform dosing and conveying of briquettes using buffer zones.
• Automatic control of the briquette flow and emergency discharge.
• Grouping and packaging of 12 briquettes in shrink film.
• Capacity — 120 packages per hour.
• Automatic insertion of A6 leaflets into packages.
• Efficient shrink tunnel with digital temperature and airflow control.
• Automatic control of package dimensions and weight.
• Automatic palletizing of 10 kg briquette packages using the four-axis SMARTPAL-3000 robot.
• Safety sensors and an emergency stop system throughout the entire line.
• The briquetting process can continue during planned technological breaks in the operation of the packaging line.
