Dust Extraction System at ECOPACK: an Environmentally Friendly Solution for Woodworking

In September 2025, RMP specialists completed the installation of a dust extraction system at the ECOPACK facility in Jelgava region.

Task:
The woodworking facility generates large amounts of chips, shavings, and wood dust. Fine particles negatively affect workers’ health and accumulate on equipment, reducing efficiency and shortening machinery lifespan. Additionally, dry wood dust and shavings pose an increased fire hazard, creating extra risks for both staff and production.

Solution:
A modern dust extraction system was installed to reduce dust levels, improve environmental safety, and increase production efficiency. The system also significantly reduces fire risks by promptly removing accumulations of wood dust and shavings from working areas.

System configuration:
• Bag filter on metal supports with a concrete foundation; capacity up to 16,000 m³/h. The design allows clean air to be returned back into the workshop.
• Two fans, each 11 kW, with an airflow capacity of up to 8,000 m³/h.
• Galvanized air ducts with a smooth inner surface that prevents dust buildup.

System features:

• Low maintenance costs.

RMP carried out the system design, equipment delivery, ductwork installation, electrical installation, and commissioning on a turnkey basis.

The extraction system operates efficiently: the airflow generated by the fans transports dust and shavings through the ducts into the filtration unit, where particles settle on the filters and clean air is returned to the workshop. The waste is then moved via a screw conveyor to a RUF briquetting press, where fine dust and shavings are compressed into compact briquettes suitable for use as fuel.
